The S 415 LE business is ready for boarding. This new member of the Setra MultiClass is an efficient low-entry rural regular-service bus that combines economy and functionality in a new dimension. New length for even more space
At 3350 mm, the Setra S 415 LE business test vehicle has the same body height as the Setra S 415 UL business, which was launched a year ago. Yet, at 12,330 mm, it is 130 mm longer due to its optimised seating space. The wheelbase is 6330 mm. The developers have provided the S 415 LE business with room for two stowage compartments, each with a capacity of 250 litres, which are available to the driver on the left and right in front of the drive axle.
High convenience thanks to low entry
Especially elderly passengers and people with impaired mobility will benefit from the low entrance height, which, on the test vehicle with 295/80 R 22.5 tyres, is 345 mm at the front entrance. This figure drops to 305 mm if the optional 275/70 R 22.5 tyres are chosen.
The boarding height at entrance II is 385 mm with 295 tyres and 340 mm with 275 tyres. The electronic level control on the S 415 LE business allows further lowering by up to 70 mm using the kneeling function.
Flexible door widths for entrance II
The trucks of the Jubilee rally are running from Naberezhnye Chelny to Stavropol. Today they are welcomed in Belgorod. In the standard version, the front door on the S 415 LE business is single-wing with a width of 1150 mm. Entrance II comes as standard with a pneumatically operated single-wing outward-swinging door.
The 1150 mm door width is suit-able for wheelchair users and satisfies the requirements in terms of disability equipment. The installation of a manually operated folding ramp with a load-carrying capacity of up to 350 kilograms is also possible in this area. Entrance II is optionally available with a 1380-mm-wide double-wing door.
Cockpit with multifunction display
The S 415 LE business is equipped as standard with the ergonomically designed cockpit from the Setra MultiClass modular system. This provides extensive adjustment possibilities as well as the integration of a multifunction display in the instrument panel. The steering column is adjustable in height and inclination.
Setra optionally provides such extras as lockable stowage compartments, additional stowage space in front of entrance I and installation of a payment system, payment tray and ticket printer. A driver’s door is optionally available and provides additional stowage space.
Efficient and rugged interior
The interior of the S 415 LE business is efficient and rugged – with easy-to-clean ceiling and side trim panels. In the front half of the bus, the seats are mounted on 190-mm-high bases. 2620 mm of headroom is available in the low-floor front section. Ahead of the rear axle, two steps each of 220 mm afford access to the rear section. If the LE business is to be registered as an urban regular-service bus (class I), the rear section is modified for access via three 152-mm steps.
Depending on the equipment line, the area opposite entrance II can be flexibly equipped with one or two pram/wheelchair spaces. A low shoulder line at a height of 650 mm ensures that seated passengers also enjoy good outward visibility.
Seats for up to 49 passengers
In the maximum seating configuration, the S 415 LE business comes as standard with 49 seats for passengers (without wheelchair space). The Setra Transit seats are fitted with 2-point lap belts. The equally highly robust Setra Route seat with sprung cushion and intuitive control is optionally available. Bus service operators can choose from a wide range of Setra fabric designs and materials as well as grab rails in various colours. Full-length luggage shelves with mesh bottoms provide passengers with generous stowage space.
Simply compact – the Euro VI engine OM 936
The S 415 LE business for the press trial drive is powered by a 260 kW (354 hp) variant of the Mercedes-Benz OM 936 six-cylinder in-line engine with two-stage turbocharger. This compact and lightweight 7.7-litre powerplant, which has already proved its worth in MultiClass raised-floor buses, is also available from Setra in a 220 kW (299 hp) variant. The maximum torque is 1400 Nm and 1200 Nm, respectively. The engine features common rail direct injection with a high-pressure pump. Fuel economy is up to five percent higher in comparison with the Euro V engines in the previous models.
The vertically mounted BlueEfficiency Power generation engine impresses with long service intervals of up to 90,000 kilometres. There is an unusually wide choice of transmission variants. Customers can choose between a GO 190 six-speed manual transmission, the fully automated GO 250-8 PowerShift manual transmission, and ZF EcoLife and Voith DIWA.6 automatic torque converter transmissions.
More safety thanks to an optimised frame structure
The S 415 LE business comes with state-of-the-art safety systems, such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), Brake Assist (BAS) and electronic braking system (EBS). The frame structure of the vehicle has been revised with the use of additional stiffening elements and higher-strength steels.
